Matthew 6: 25-33 NLT

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[e] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Worry is allowing your mind to mind to dwell on troubles or the possibility of difficult times. It is a form of negative meditation that doesn’t yield beneficial results for your life.

The only way to combat worry is by refocusing and fixing your mind on Jesus and speaking aloud with your mouth the promises He has provided unto you. When you speak aloud with your mouth, negative thoughts are disrupted. In Philippians 4:19, God promises to supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Everything you need has been placed in Christ and Christ dwells in you!

What are you in need of: comfort, companionship, peace, health, direction, loyalty, endurance, strength, love, or boldness. Whatever you may stand in need of today, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus has met all of your needs.

Prayer for the Journey

Father, thank you for meeting all my needs in Christ Jesus. I will keep my mind focused on this truth to combat worry and anxiety. Fear is not of you. When I understand the perfect and complete love you have for me, fear, worry, and anxiety depart. Because I know that you love me, I understand your love will never leave me without what I need.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

Love is the foundation that God builds upon for you to stand firm in the faith. When we grasp and receive God's love, when life happens (trials and tribulations come), we don't become shaky in our faith because we know that God loves us and all things will work out for our good. If trials cause one to doubt or question God's love, then God's true love has not yet been fully understood.

No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39 NLT

Let’s talk about this overwhelming love. Click to watch! Remember, I will be going live every Thursday at 6 am CST. You can also help spread the gospel by sharing this email or the video with people you know. 😃

As always, I look forward to sharing God's Word with you!

Because of religion, it has become quite difficult for people to accept the goodness of God by grace. Most people often think they have to live a life of perfection to earn God's goodness. With this mindset, people try to live a godly life through their own self-will and empowerment. I've been there and that thinking caused my life to be in an unending cycle of condemnation and guilt.

I can recall times, feeling ashamed, when I didn't spend time with God. The shame made me avoid Him because I assumed He was displeased with me. I would then do something that I thought would earn his pleasure and favor back. This would relieve the guilt and ease my conscious to reenter His presence. And of course, this cycle continued.

God's grace says that you have free access to the throne of God despite what you have done and where you are in life. Grace says you are forgiven and God doesn't hold your sins against you. Actually, He doesn't even see your sin because the blood of Jesus has completely washed it away. No, this doesn't give you free rein to live a life dishonoring God and His Word, but it eases your mind to know that you can go boldly before God's throne to receive help in the time of need. God wants to be your help.

If you are dealing with a way of life that you know is displeasing to God, don't run away from Him, but run towards Him. Let Him show you how to trust Him. Let Him build you up internally to eradicate the sin out of your life. Let Him be the source of power in you to resist what is displeasing to Him. The key to defeating sin is Jesus and the enemy's plan is to keep you in condemnation and not feel that you deserve to be in His presence.

Be reminded on today of Hebrews 4: 16 NLT So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Prayer for the Journey

God, my desire is to live a life that is pleasing to you. I realize that sin is the root of not trusting you. I choose to not walk in condemnation and shame because of my faults. I come boldly before your throne realizing I am forgiven because of grace alone. Lord help me! Through your word change my thinking! If my thinking is changed then I know that my actions will be changed. I draw close realizing that change happens only through You! In Jesus Name, Amen!
