Because of religion, it has become quite difficult for people to accept the goodness of God by grace. Most people often think they have to live a life of perfection to earn God's goodness. With this mindset, people try to live a godly life through their own self-will and empowerment. I've been there and that thinking caused my life to be in an unending cycle of condemnation and guilt.

I can recall times, feeling ashamed, when I didn't spend time with God. The shame made me avoid Him because I assumed He was displeased with me. I would then do something that I thought would earn his pleasure and favor back. This would relieve the guilt and ease my conscious to reenter His presence. And of course, this cycle continued.

God's grace says that you have free access to the throne of God despite what you have done and where you are in life. Grace says you are forgiven and God doesn't hold your sins against you. Actually, He doesn't even see your sin because the blood of Jesus has completely washed it away. No, this doesn't give you free rein to live a life dishonoring God and His Word, but it eases your mind to know that you can go boldly before God's throne to receive help in the time of need. God wants to be your help.

If you are dealing with a way of life that you know is displeasing to God, don't run away from Him, but run towards Him. Let Him show you how to trust Him. Let Him build you up internally to eradicate the sin out of your life. Let Him be the source of power in you to resist what is displeasing to Him. The key to defeating sin is Jesus and the enemy's plan is to keep you in condemnation and not feel that you deserve to be in His presence.

Be reminded on today of Hebrews 4: 16 NLT So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Prayer for the Journey

God, my desire is to live a life that is pleasing to you. I realize that sin is the root of not trusting you. I choose to not walk in condemnation and shame because of my faults. I come boldly before your throne realizing I am forgiven because of grace alone. Lord help me! Through your word change my thinking! If my thinking is changed then I know that my actions will be changed. I draw close realizing that change happens only through You! In Jesus Name, Amen!

Have you ever found yourself working hard at something and then becoming agitated and frustrated because it appeared you had no help? Well, I have... PLENTY OF TIMES! Lol! If you can relate, I'm sure you and I both looked just like Martha in Luke 10:38-42.

Marth was overwhelmed with the dinner she was preparing for Jesus and thought it was unfair that her sister was just sitting listening to Jesus while she did all the work. She was so agitated that she confronted Jesus and said "Lord, don’t you think it’s unfair that my sister left me to do all the work by myself? You should tell her to get up and help me."

Jesus' reply to Martha is His reply to you and I as well. "You are worried, anxious, and upset over all these details!"

Mary discovered one of the most important things of life...choosing to sit at Jesus' feet, undistracted.

I know there are many things that you have to do but don't neglect what is of great importance...spending time in the presence of God to be refreshed, replenished, and rejuvenated. Put God first and then tackle the chores, to-do list, and assignments for the day. I guarantee your approach will be different this way.

Prayer for the Journey

God, thank you for reminding me what is of greatest importance in my life...You. I know that I have many things to do but that doesn't mean I should neglect quality time with you. Today, I decide to spend time in your presence before tackling the many assignments for the day. Me being filled up before I begin to pour out will help me avoid frustration, agitation, anxiety and fear. God, I NEED YOU. I can't show up, be all that I need to be, and do all that I am required to do without you. In Jesus name, Amen!

One day I was searching for a document on my computer and came across some old pictures of a time when my kids were much younger. When I saw the picture, I instantly became sad. I began recalling some of my parenting moments, wishing I had done some things differently. I had this overwhelming feeling of guilt and sorrow that instantly consumed me. The Holy Spirit's voice rushed in and said "Danielle, you have had way more good days than bad days. You were a better parent than you think you were. Now, change your mindset and focus on the good."

When we look over our past, the enemy tries to get us to focus on the bad...the times when we wish we would have done things differently. He knows that forever looking at our wrong will cause guilt to invade our thinking and delay our progress. According to 1 Timothy 1: 13, Paul, was a blasphemer who killed Christians! When he gave testimony of His conversion, He focused more on God's grace that called Him into the ministry than His past mistakes.

Today God is saying, CHANGE YOUR FOCUS. You have had more good days than bad days. It is up to you to choose to focus on the good. Your emotions are a product of the state of your mind. So, choose joy over sadness by focusing on the good of your past and not the bad.

Prayer for the Journey

Lord, as I look over my life, help me to focus more on the good rather than the bad. I have had some challenges in life but they do not outweigh your goodness. When I focus on the not-so-good moments of life, I begin to sink in sadness. However, when I focus on you and your goodness, I have a mind that is at peace and saturated in joy. There is too much for me to do and much progress to make. When my soul (mind, will, intellect, emotions) prospers, I declare and believe I too will prosper.

There is still time for you to join the Unveiling True Purpose course to discover and progress in God's plan for you. If you are in need of financial assistance, we still have scholarships available. Registration closes September 27, 2021 so use the button below to sign up today!
