Matthew 6: 25-33 NLT

25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? 27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? 28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. 30 And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God[e] above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

Worry is allowing your mind to mind to dwell on troubles or the possibility of difficult times. It is a form of negative meditation that doesn’t yield beneficial results for your life.

The only way to combat worry is by refocusing and fixing your mind on Jesus and speaking aloud with your mouth the promises He has provided unto you. When you speak aloud with your mouth, negative thoughts are disrupted. In Philippians 4:19, God promises to supply all of your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Everything you need has been placed in Christ and Christ dwells in you!

What are you in need of: comfort, companionship, peace, health, direction, loyalty, endurance, strength, love, or boldness. Whatever you may stand in need of today, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus has met all of your needs.

Prayer for the Journey

Father, thank you for meeting all my needs in Christ Jesus. I will keep my mind focused on this truth to combat worry and anxiety. Fear is not of you. When I understand the perfect and complete love you have for me, fear, worry, and anxiety depart. Because I know that you love me, I understand your love will never leave me without what I need.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

Summertime is almost here, and I am looking forward to the road trips my family and I usually take for vacation. Every time we go out of town, my husband examines the car to ensure it is in a suitable condition that will sustain a long road trip and provide safety for his precious cargo (his kids and I).

Likewise, when God asks us to pursue assignments, we often examine ourselves to ensure we are suited and ready for the journey. If this examination is not focused on Christ in us, then the examination is misguided.

2 Corinthians 13:5 AMPC Examine and test and evaluate your selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?

CHRIST LIVES IN YOU. Because Christ lives in you, there is an assurance that you will also share His glory (Colossians 1:27). Glory is tangible evidence of God’s power working in you. Glory is the successful pursuit of what God has called for you to do. When Christ finished the work of redeeming mankind, God’s glory was seen in His life.

When one only self-examines without Christ being at the center of that examination, they often fall short of the standard set by either themselves or society. Christ, in you, is the key to realizing that nothing is impossible. He is your hope for healing, prosperity, peace, significance, restoration, and boldness.

Prayer for the Journey

Father, no longer will I self-examine without you being at the center of that examination. Help me to realize that you are the game-changer in my life. Because of you, I am suited and worthy of the task at hand. My hope for success is based on you living in me.

In Jesus name, Amen!
