As a child who learned many bible stories growing up, God was often displayed as one who poured judgment on those who did wrong. I remember thinking to myself, “Danielle you need to do right or God will get you!” I brought that same thinking over into my adult life...a thought that if I didn’t do right, God would pour out His judgment upon me. So, when I set out to achieve something in life, I tried my best to be as perfect as I could so I could deserve His favor.
Thank God for the knowledge and understanding of grace. God is a God of judgment but according to John 3:18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.”
Jesus took the judgment for our sin on the cross. The wrath of God was poured out on His body and all those who believe in Him are now in right standing with God.
Look for the good from God and not the bad. Believe that the journey He is asking you to embark upon will work out in your favor! Be reminded that God's wrath was poured out on Jesus so that you can experience His goodness.
Prayer for the Journey God, thank you for this reminder today! It’s so easy to fall into self-effort and striving to try and earn your goodness but I am reminded today that I experience your goodness because of Jesus. Lord, I believe that this journey will work out in my favor although I haven’t been perfect. Today I am reminded that you love and adore me. When I experience trials in life, it’s not you repaying my wrong. I am reminded today that trials are a part of a broken and evil world and don't come from you as punishment. I am reminded today that you are a good good father. In Jesus name, Amen!
