Last week we discussed how gardening contains many life lessons. If we were to plant apple seeds, we would never expect orange trees to grow. The expectation of the type of crop that is produced is dependent on the seed that is planted. There is a connection between the seed that is planted and the harvest that is produced. Likewise, the mouth will speak in accordance with what is planted in the heart. Tupac Shakur said, “If you let a person talk long enough you’ll hear their true intentions! Listen twice, speak once." I believe we need to apply this to our own lives. Have you examined the words that exude from your mouth? What do you say when trouble arises? What do you say when blessings appear? Your mouth is a good litmus test of what has been stored in the abundance of your heart. If your words don’t align with what God has said, change the seeds that are being planted in your heart. The more you spend time with God in prayer and reading/listening to Godly resources, the more you will think and speak like Him.

The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks. - Luke 6:45 AMPC

Prayer for the Journey

Thank you for revealing that what I think, say, and do is a byproduct of what I am allowing to be stored in my heart. I want my actions aligned with your will. Help me to not allow the busyness of life to rob me of the time I should be spending with you. My time with you is a seed that will be stored in my heart to produce good fruit. For this reason, my prayer is that I make You a priority in my life.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

There is a connection between what you say and what has been stored in your heart. If you want to change the words that are coming from your mouth, then you must change what is being stored in your heart. Join me live Thursday 8/18/2022 at 6am CST.

When God’s Word is planted in good ground (your heart), it will produce a great harvest. Watch the YouTube Live replay.

Many life lessons can be learned through gardening. My husband is the one with the “green thumb” in our house, but I do know some basic principles 😊. If a seed is planted in good soil and provided the needed elements such as water and sunlight, the seed will produce after its kind. In Luke chapter 8, the soil is used to illustrate the heart of man and the seed represents God’s Word. When God’s Word (seed) is stored in your heart (ground), you will not sin against Him (Psalm 119:11 paraphrased). To sin is to do the opposite of God’s will and all sin is a byproduct of unbelief. It’s only when one truly doesn’t believe God that he/she will not follow His guidance. When one doesn’t believe God, it is often because he/she hasn’t fully grasped that God is not like humans and is forever good!

So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself). Romans 10:17 AMPC

There is a plan and purpose God has predestined for your life and storing the Word in your heart will produce a life trusting and believing God to fulfill that purpose.

Prayer for the Journey

God, I now understand that a pure heart is one that trusts you and wants to do your will. Although I have a pure heart, I understand that I will still make mistakes because of my weaknesses. Help me to quickly repent once I see the error of my ways and believe that you are doing an inner transformation through the power of Your Word.

In Jesus Name, Amen!
