God created each individual with a purpose in mind. We never have to live life aimlessly doing what doesn’t align with His will. Initially, when God showed me the plans He had for my life, I was fixated on the blessings and success it would add. Little thought was given to how it would be a blessing and benefit to others. We assume that the epitome of joy will accompany OUR success. The definition of success is different for each individual. What equates to success in your mind? Is it being able to travel the world, have peace, have a happy family, be debt-free, simply be in the will of God, etc? Fulfilling purpose attributes to YOUR definition of success but the greater fulfillment is when you can identify the advantage that your purpose will have in the lives of others. Remember, God never asks us to do anything on our own. Through Christ, we have the gift of Holy Spirit. The Spirit will help you to not only focus on yourself.

Philippians 2:4 NLT Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Prayer for the Journey

Thank you Lord for allowing me to be a part of what you are doing on the earth. Your plan for my life is advantageous for others. Help me to see the bigger picture, that it is not just about me. May my life be of complete use to you.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

Prior to understanding my new identity in Christ, I spent a lot of time trying to prove who I was and wasn’t to people. A need to prove who you are is a result of low self-esteem. When you know and have accepted who you are, there will be no need to prove that to others. I truly thank God for helping me grow and develop in the arena of confidence and identity. I have found great joy in being who He has made me to be and now spend less time thinking about what others think!

The only way to truly fulfill God’s will for your life is to be delivered from people. Delivered means to be set free. You need to be set free from others’ opinions. You can’t control what others think about you and it’s not your responsibility to try and make them think differently. Your only responsibility is to fulfill the will of your Father. When Paul was on the road to Damascus, he had an encounter with Jesus. Look at what Jesus said to Paul in Acts 26:17 AMPC Choosing you out [selecting you for Myself] and delivering you from among this [Jewish] people and the Gentiles to whom I am sending you. Jesus told Paul that He would first need to deliver Him from people so that He could in turn send him to them. You will never be able to fulfill God’s will if you are concerned about the thoughts and actions of people.

My hope and prayer are that you will be like Paul. Heed God’s voice and be delivered from people to go forth and be exactly who He has created you to be. There is great joy that accompanies being authentically you! If you are dealing with low self-esteem, I encourage you to read and meditated on Psalm 139.

Prayer for the Journey

God, thank you for creating me in your image. My life is not a mistake and I am here because it pleased you to create me. Help me to not be concerned about what others think about me. It is only your opinion of me that matters. When you look at me, you are pleased. If you are pleased with me, then I too will be pleased with who I am in you.

In Jesus Name, Amen!

Hope and expectation are what the believer thrives on in life. However, past disappointments can lower one’s expectations of what God wants to do in their future. In the past, my way of coping with let downs was to not have any expectations. My thought was, if there wasn’t an expectation, then I would be satisfied with whatever the outcome would be. Then the Lord corrected my thinking and said these words, “Danielle, your preparation will only rise to the level of your expectation.” Those words changed me forever!

Our expectation should be aligned with what the Lord has said.

Psalm 37:4 AMPC Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires and secret petitions of your heart.

Delight means to incline toward or take pleasure in. When we take pleasure in what God wants to do through us and incline towards His will, we will have the desires of our heart. He grants us the petitions of our heart because His desires have become our desires.

Expect exactly what God said you can have. Don’t expect any less than God’s best! May your hope be rooted in God’s love for you!

Prayer for the Journey

My heart is forever grateful for your son Jesus who died so that I may have access to the abundant life. Today, I am renewed in hope and expectation of what you will do in my life. I have submitted my life to you and believe that the desires of my heart are your desires. I have hope and expectation the you will grant unto me the secret petitions of my heart.

In Jesus Name, Amen!
