One of the definitions of confidence is a feeling of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities. This is often the world's view of confidence and as a follower of Christ, it can be tempting to embrace this view. However, the bible tells us to place no confidence in our flesh (outward privileges, physical advantages, and external appearances). Philippians 3:3 ERV But we are the ones who have the true circumcision—we who worship God through his Spirit. We don’t trust in ourselves or anything we can do. We take pride only in Christ Jesus. What you trust in is what you will place your confidence in. Christ confidence is relative to your relationship with God and enables you to be free and fearless to do what God asks of you because you know who you are in Christ. One who is Christ-confident realizes that who they are and what they are capable of doing is not solely based on their abilities, but a relationship with Christ who grants unto every man courage, strength, gifts, and talents. Christians should be Christ-confident and not self-confident.

Prayer for the Journey

Lord, thank you for the reminder of where true confidence comes from...It comes from you. Because I know who I am in you, I have the confidence to do what you have called me to do. You are the vine and I am the branch (John 15:5). There is nothing I can do without you!

In Jesus Name, Amen!

We live in a world where many things are labeled right that opposes the character and will of God. God, by his grace, has forgiven all our sins (past, present, and future) but never should grace permit one to live a life not subject to God's will. The bible says in James 4:7 AMPC So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. God has a great destiny ahead of you. The sacrifices you make to be set apart for God's use and resist the evil temptations of the world preserve the great future ahead. Always remember God is not trying to make you miss out on a fun life. He wants to ensure you complete every good work destined for you.

Prayer for the Journey

Father, thank you for the power given by the Holy Spirit to resist the evil temptations of the world. It is an honor to be set apart for your use. Help me to remember that a yielded life is a blessed life. Thank you for helping me not be saddened over the sacrifices I make of living a holy life. Help me to remember that every sacrifice gets me closer and closer to what you have destined for me to do.

In Jesus name, Amen!

"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself." Joseph Campbell

Today, we pause to remember and honor all who gave their lives in service to our country. They left this world giving their life for something they believed in. Jesus also gave His life for something He believed in...He believed in YOU.

Romans 5:7-8 NLG 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Today, I want you to be reminded that God loves you so much and believes that, through Christ, you have the ability to continue His mission on earth. You were left here to continue advancing God's will. God's will is for all to be saved and be filled with the hope found in Christ. Everyday, you are an example to those looking for Christ.

Prayer for the Journey

God, help me to remember that my life, in you, is an example to a hurting world. I give you permission to use my life for the benefit of others. May my light shine forth your glory and draw others into your kingdom.

In Jesus Name, Amen!
